‘Goliath’ mini-tank

During the Second World War, the Germans built a miniature tracked vehicle capable of carrying enough explosives to blow up enemy tanks.

The maximum speed of the 'Goliath' was five to ten kilometres an hour. Early versions of the ‘beetle tank’ were powered by two electric motors, while later ones had a small petrol engine. The vehicle was remotely controlled by way of an electric cable. It weighed 390 kg, including 60 kg of explosives.

In The Hague at some entrances to the Scheveningen Fortress Goliath minitanks were located.
