250 resistance fighters murdered

Waalsdorpervlakte was used as a place of execution during the years of occupation. It is estimated that approximately 250 resistance fighters were put to death here. The place of execution was just beyond the anti-tank wall of the bastion of Scheveningen.

Collaborators, including Max Blokzijl and Anton Mussert, were executed here after the war.

Now there is monument dedicated to the memory of the resistance fighters and Remembrance Day is held on 4 May every year.
